Amnesty Urges Russia Not To Deport Uzbek

October 23, 2006 -- The human rights group Amnesty International is urging Russia not to deport an Uzbek national accused of terrorism in his Central Asian homeland.

A statement by Amnesty says Rustam Muminov is at risk of death if extradited.

Last week, a Moscow court ordered Muminov deported for not having a Russian residency permit. In Uzbekistan, Muminov is accused of being a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic group banned in Russia and Central Asia.
