PACE President Plans To Visit Belarus

January 11, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Rene van der Linden, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), plans to visit Belarus on January 18-20.


PACE said its president plans to meet officials and opposition and NGO representatives to discuss European concerns about democracy in Belarus, which is not a member of the Council of Europe.


Today, van der Linden began a two-day visit to Moscow.
