Gazprom, Britain's BP Eye Joint Venture

March 1, 2007 -- Russia's state-run gas monopoly Gazprom and energy giant British Petroleum (BP) are considering creating a joint venture to cooperate in the sector of liquefied natural gas (LNG).


Gazprom said today in a statement that its CEO Aleksei Miller has discussed the project with BP's leadership.


The statement said the two sides discussed "the possibility of setting up a joint venture to develop the international business of the companies, including in the field of LNG."


No further details were immediately available.
