BRUSSELS, April 3, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- The European Union's special representative for the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby, has been consulting EU member states on a raft of proposed confidence-building measures for Georgia and its breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The measures emerged after a visit by an EU team of experts to the region in January. Semneby met with EU ambassadors for a second round of talks on March 28. RFE/RL correspondent Ahto Lobjakas caught up with Semneby in Brussels to discuss his approach.
