U.S. Urges North Korea To Shut Nuclear Reactor

May 31, 2007 -- The U.S. envoy to the stalled North Korean disarmament
talks has called on Pyongyang to close its main nuclear reactor.
Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said the United States and China were working hard to resolve an impasse over the return of North Korean funds that had previously been frozen in a Macau bank due to U.S. money-laundering accusations.

Hill said there was no reason why North Korea should not close its Yongbyon reactor as agreed under a six-nation nuclear disarmament accord reached in February.
