Ossetian Separatists Accuse Georgia Of Attack

(RFE/RL)

June 29, 2007 -- Separatists say a resident of the administrative
capital, Tskhinvali, of Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia was
seriously injured and a home destroyed late on June 28 in a
grenade attack that they blame on Georgian forces.
They say a separate attack targeted a nearby village.

Colonel Mamuka Kurashvili, the commander of Georgian peacekeepers in the area, denied any responsibility.

The incident is the biggest flare-up in months in the area, which is a source of tension between Georgia's central government and Moscow.
