Russian 'Vogue' Editor Tipped To Take Over U.S. Job
The word on the street is that
Anna Wintour
, "Vogue's" U.S. editor in chief, is considering retirement.
Aliona Doletskaya
, the editor in chief of "Vogue's" Russian edition, has been on the short list of Wintour successors for some time now.
If she got the job, that would really be a sign of how far Russian fashion has come. "We've seen crises, we've seen currencies come and go," Doletskaya
said last month
. "Only strong, talented, beautiful people survive."
And when it comes to fashion, Doletskaya noted, Russians "are getting far more sophisticated."
For evidence, take Karl Lagerfeld's
latest collection
, a runway rumination on Dolestskaya's triumvirate of talent, beauty, and power -- complete with a nod to Coco Chanel's
Russian connections
.
