Four Killed, Scores Hurt In Quetta Bomb Attack

At least four people have been reported killed and upward of 40 others injured in a bomb explosion in Quetta, in Pakistan's troubled southwestern Balochistan Province.

Reports say the victims, mostly students, were riding aboard a university bus when the vehicle was hit by a bomb.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The bus was reportedly carrying students to the Information Technology university in Quetta.

Quetta is the capital of Balochistan, where separatist rebels have been fighting since 2004, demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from oil, gas, and mineral resources.

The region is also home to an Islamist militancy linked to the Taliban, and sectarian violence between the majority Sunni and minority Shi'ite Muslims.
