Four Suspected Militants Killed, Two Detained In Ingushetia

Officials say four suspected militants have been killed and at least two others detained in a security operation in Russia's restive republic of Ingushetia in the North Caucasus.

Initial reports said three militants were killed.

Officials said the operation was launched in a bid to find suspects who might have been involved in the August 19 bombing of a police officer's funeral in the village of Sagopshi that killed eight police officers and injured 15 other people.

Violence between suspected Islamic militants and security forces in Russia's North Caucasus region leaves scores of people dead and injured each year.

Volatile republics in the region include Ingushetia, Daghestan, Chechnya, and Kabardino-Balkaria.
