Gunmen Kidnap Seven Pakistani Soldiers

Pakistani officials say gunmen have kidnapped seven soldiers in central Pakistan.

Military officials said on January 2 the soldiers were kidnapped from a bus in Jand, a small town in Punjab Province.

Officials said the soldiers were traveling between army headquarters in Rawalpindi and their duty stations in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

The kidnapping follows last week's kidnapping of 23 tribal security officers.

The Taliban later said the militants had killed 21 of them.

One soldier escaped and another was wounded.
