Daghestan's deputy prime minister has been killed in a car crash in Moscow.

Police say that Gadji Makhachev and two other people were killed in the accident on the evening of December 19.

Makhachev died in an ambulance.

His wife and three children were taken to a hospital.

Daghestani police officials said Makhachev’s vehicle collided head-on with a minibus.

After the collision, the cars overturned and the minibus caught fire.

The accident occurred on a stretch of road under repair.

Moscow police say they have opened a criminal case over the accident.
