Eight people have been killed in a fire that broke out in a jewelry factory in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

The Civil Protection Agency said 22 people were rescued from the building.

The blaze engulfed 250 square meters on the fourth and fifth stories of the building, which also houses a number of offices.

One man died after trying to escape the fire by jumping out of a fourth-floor window.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
