A Russian firm has announced that it's in the final stages of negotiations on a contract to help build a natural-gas power plant in Serbia as part of a multinational consortium.
The press service of Russia's Optima Group, quoting group President Valery Shandalov, said the negotiations were for participation in a project to modernize Novi Sad's power gird of and to build a power plant in two stages.
Shandalov said preparations for the consortium project had been under way for two years.
Others in the consortium are include Slovakia's GGE, Metka Greece, and NIS, the largest energy company in Serbia.
A majority stake in NIS is held by Russia's Gazprom Neft.
