Lawyer Says Pakistani Drone Activist 'Tortured,' Freed

Pakistani drone activist Kareem Khan, who disappeared from his home last week, has reportedly been freed.

Relatives said that Kareem Khan had been picked up from his home on the outskirts of Islamabad on February 5 by around 20 men, some in police uniform.

Khan's lawyer Shahzad Akber said on February 14 that his client was released from a van onto the road earlier in the day in a suburb of the capital, Islamabad.

The lawyer said Khan had been tortured and interrogated.

Khan had disappeared just days before he was due to testify before European parliamentarians about U.S. drone attacks.

Khan has said his brother and teenage son were killed in a drone attack in their native North Waziristan in December 2009.
