The upper chamber of Uzbekistan's parliament has approved a law on broadening the prime minister's powers.
According to the law approved by the Senate on April 10, some parts of the presidential responsibilities and powers will be transferred to the prime minister.
Parliament will also get a right to control the cabinet's activities.
It's not clear what presidential powers would be transferred to the prime minister.
The parliament's lower chamber, the Oliy Majlis, approved the law last month after it had been initiated by authoritarian President Islam Karimov.
The law will enter into force when Karimov ratifies it.
