Baghdad University Attacked

Officials say at least five people are dead and more than 10 others injured after suspected militants attacked a university in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Authorities said a suicide bomber set off explosives at the entrance to Imam Kadhim University on April 20, causing at least five deaths.

Officials said police shot dead at least three other gunmen who were apparently part of the assault team.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Sunni militants have been blamed for frequent attacks on Shi'ite Islam targets, such as the university.

Elsewhere in Iraq, two car bombs exploded in the city of Samawah, some 370 kilometers southeast of Baghdad, killing seven civilians and wounding eight others.

The attacks come as Iraq prepares to hold parliamentary elections on April 30.
