Amnesty International is marking the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention Against Torture with protests in front of London diplomatic offices of countries using torture.
The London protests on June 26 include demonstrations outside the embassies of Uzbekistan, the Philippines, and Mexico -- and the Nigerian High Commission.
They are part of a global day of action highlighting torture cases on the UN-declared International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.
The protest outside Uzbekistan’s embassy highlights the torture in 2010 of Dilorom Abdukadirova.
Amnesty describes her as a vegetable seller and "prisoner of conscience" serving an 18-year prison sentence "issued at unfair trials" because she tried to use her right to free speech.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged all countries that have not yet done so to ratify the UN’s Convention Against Torture.
