Russia's Investigative Committee says its probe into the murder of opposition politician Boris Nemtsov has been completed.
Vladimir Markin, a committee spokesman, said on January 29 that five detained suspects from Russia's North Caucasus region of Chechnya had been charged with "committing the contract killing" of Nemtsov as he was walking outside the Kremlin on February 27, 2015.
The suspected mastermind of the killing, Ruslan Mukhudinov, a member of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s security forces, remains at large, according to Markin.
On January 21, Investigative Committee chief Aleksandr Bastrykin announced that Nemtsov's murder had been fully solved.
But Nemtsov's daughter, Zhanna Nemtsova, rejected Bastrykin's conclusions, accusing the Investigative Committee of not being "interested in fully solving" the case.
Nemtsov's relatives and lawyers have expressed skepticism about the probe, insisting the killing must have been ordered by high-ranking Russian officials.
