Aide To Central Asia's Chief Rabbi Murdered

PRAGUE, June 9, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- A top aide to the chief rabbi of Central Asia and Tajikistan has been murdered.


The Uzbek Interior Ministry says Karina-Rivka Laufer, the secretary to Abe David Gurevich, was found dead on June 8, along with her mother, in their Tashkent apartment.


The CIS Federation of Jewish Communities has called on the Uzbek authorities to thoroughly investigate the killings.
