June 10, 2006 -- Georgia's separatist republic of Abkhazia today rejected an offer of broad autonomy from Tbilisi.

Abkhazia's Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba said Abkhaz authorities will never abandon its objective of creating an independent state.

Georgia on June 9 made public a plan to make Georgia a federal state, offering broad autonomy and providing aid to develop Abkhazia's economy.
