Kyrgyzstan To Deport Four Uzbek Refugees

June 19, 2006 -- Kyrgyz authorities say they plan to extradite four Uzbeks who are among those who fled to Kyrgyzstan following a bloody crackdown by the Uzbek government in Andijon last May.


The Uzbek authorities accuse them being involved in criminal activities.


A spokesman for the Kyrgyz Prosecutor-General's Office says no extradition date has yet been set.


The decision comes despite international calls on Bishkek to grant the refugees asylum.
