EU Concerned About Russian Role In Transdniester
October 25, 2006
BRUSSELS, October 25, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- The European Union today said it is "concerned" about Russia's lack of cooperation in resolving Moldova's conflict with its breakaway region of Transdniester.
The EU external relations commissioner, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, told the European Parliament in Strasbourg today that Russian calls for some form of international recognition to Transdniester could "complicate" solutions.
She also said that continued tensions with Transdniester could "seriously hamper" Moldova's development.
