BAKU -- Representatives of the opposition Musavat Party in Azerbaijan's parliament have proposed amendments to the law on the national flag, RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service reports.
One of the authors of the proposed amendments, Panah Huseyn, said at the parliamentary session on October 20 that the amendments would make it possible to reinstall Turkey's national flag on Baku's Alley of Martyrs.
The Turkish flag used to hang in a cemetery of Turkish soldiers who died fighting against British troops in Azerbaijan in 1918 and were buried in Baku.
Azerbaijani authorities removed the flag on October 17, shortly after the Azerbaijani flag was not allowed at the historic Armenian-Turkish soccer match in the Turkish city of Bursa that was attended by Armenian and Turkish leaders.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey have grown tense since Armenian-Turkish fence-mending protocols were signed in Zurich on October 10.
