TEXT SIZE - +
BAKU -- Police in the Azerbaijani city of Sabirabad have arrested two members of the Popular Front Party who were collecting signatures for the registration of a unified opposition group, RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service reports.

The group is planning to protest the holding of a referendum on March 18 that would remove the constitutional ban on term limits for the presidency.

The opposition believes the referendum could allow incumbent President Ilham Aliyev to be president for life.

Aliyev is currently in his second and final term according to the constitution.
