Baghdad Meeting To Focus On Iraqi Integration Into Electricity Grid

TEXT SIZE - +
BAGHDAD -- Baghdad will host an international gathering on February 19 to outline ways for Iraq to integrate into regional electricity grids.

Iraqi Electricity Ministry spokesman Aziz Sultan told RFE/RL's Radio Free Iraq that ministers from Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey will convene in the Iraqi capital to discuss energy cooperation.

Iraq suffers from an electricity shortage and needs assistance from neighboring countries.

Sultan told RFI that by 2012 Iraq will be able to sell it own energy to neighboring regional countries.
