Belarusian Police Detain Youth Activists

BARANOVICHI, Belarus -- Belarusian police have detained two activists from the Belarusian city of Berastse who were on their way to a demonstration in Minsk, RFE/RL's Belarus Service reports.

Police forced unregistered Youth Front members Yulia Pashko and Ivan Stasyuk off a train near the city of Baranavichi without explanation.

They were heading to the capital to take part in the unsanctioned opposition "March of Independence."
