TEXT SIZE - +
Police said a car bomb has killed seven civilians and wounded 13 in the Iraqi city of Fallujah.

Police said a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-filled vehicle on a busy street in the city centre.

Fallujah, just west of Baghdad, was a former Sunni rebel stronghold but the security situation improved significantly in recent years after Sunni tribesmen and former rebels joined forces with the U.S. military against Al-Qaeda.

Today's bombing is the first major attack in Iraq since the March 7 parliamentary elections.
