Demonstrators In Russia Protest Kindergarten Shortage

NOVOSIBIRSK -- Protesters in several Russian cities have demonstrated against the situation regarding the country's kindergartens, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

The action was initiated in the city of Novosibirsk and supported by citizens of Krasnoyarsk and Tomsk.

A similar action is scheduled by activists in Samara.

Protest organizer Tatyana Nemtseva told RFE/RL that parents in Novosibirsk are ready to cooperate with the city authorities on a program that would increase the number of kindergartens.

The protesters also demand salary increases for kindergarten workers.
