The sister of Ramtin Soudman, an Iranian Christian jailed by authorities under unclear circumstances, tells RFE/RL's Radio Farda that his family is concerned about his fate.
Soudmand was detained by security officials in Mashhad about a month ago. The reason for his arrest and the charges against him are not known.
Soudmand's sister, Rashin, says that since her brother's arrest, he has only been able to make a few brief phone calls to his family. His whereabouts are unknown.
Rashin said her brother's case has forced the family to recall the arrest and execution some 20 years ago of Rashin's father, Hossein Soudmand. She said authorities never clearly informed the family about the charges against her father, who was a priest. She believes he was executed for converting from Islam to Christianity and for refusing to deny his new faith.
Pressure on Christian converts has been growing in the Islamic republic in recent months.(by Radio Farda's Golnaz Esfandiari)
