Islamic Center Opens In Ufa

UFA, Russia -- The opening ceremony of a new Islamic center in Bashkortostan's capital, Ufa, is set to be held, RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir service reports.

Religious leaders from across Russia and other former Soviet republics are expected to take part in the event.

The center includes the residence of Bashkortostan's grand mufti, a mosque for 200 visitors, administrative buildings, and a madrasah (Islamic religious school).

The center was designed and developed by architects Dmitry and Lilia Musin from Kazan, Tatarstan.
