TEXT SIZE - +
ASTANA -- Kazakhstan will acquire a grain terminal in the Iranian port of Amirabad on the Caspian Sea, RFE/RL's Kazakh Service reports.

Asylzhan Mamytbekov, who heads Kazakhstan's KazAgro state holding, told journalists on the sidelines of the International Grain Conference in Astana on April 1 that the terminal will start operating between May 15-20 following a special opening ceremony.

Kazakhstan produces about 15-20 million tons of grain every year and is the only grain exporter in Central Asia.

KazAgro plans to export up to 2 million tons of grain to Iran this year.
