TEXT SIZE - +
BISHKEK -- The leader of the recently established Movement to Protect RFE/RL in Kyrgyzstan plans to officially demand that Bishkek city authorities restore the full retransmission of RFE/RL's radio and television programs in the country.

Ondurush Toktonazarov told RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service that his movement's main goal is not just to protect RFE/RL but also to protect people's rights to obtain balanced, timely, and accurate information on local and international news and events.

Kyrgyz authorities stopped rebroadcasting RFE/RL's Kyrgyz-language radio broadcasts on FM and its two weekly TV programs in Kyrgyzstan in October.

The Movement to Protect RFE/RL is a grassroots group that has no affiliation with RFE/RL.
