Kyrgyz Muslims Call For Peace In Gaza

TEXT SIZE - +
BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's Union of Muslims has called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, expressing concern for the safety of Gaza's inhabitants as Israel continues its offensive against Hamas.

The UN says 524 Palestinians have been killed in the fighting so far, at least one-quarter of them civilians.

Union leader Tusrunbay Bakir Uulu told RFE/RL’s Kyrgyz Service that the statement has been sent to the embassies and missions of the United States, China, the Russian Federation, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
