TEXT SIZE - +
MOSCOW -- Demonstrators in Moscow have demanded the resignation of Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

About 60 protesters gathered in Moscow's Triumfalnaya Square on May 27 to protest the activities of Russia's police and demand direction elections for the chiefs of police departments.

The protest came a month after the chief of Moscow's Tsaritsyno police department, Denis Yevsyukov, shot two people dead and severely wounded seven in a supermarket.

The demonstration was organized by the TIGR public movement and the Narod nationalist movement.
