Rights Court Agrees To Hear Ingushetia Shooting Case
Magomed Yevloyev was shot dead in police custody in 2008.

NAZRAN, Russia -- The European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg has agreed to hear a complaint from the relatives of Ingushetian opposition activist Magomed Yevloyev, who was killed by police last year, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
According to Yevloyev’s family's lawyer, Musa Pliev, the victim’s relatives referred to the court in Strasbourg after the trial of his alleged killer was postponed several times in Ingushetia.
Yevloyev, who ran opposition website
www.ingushetia.ru, was shot in the head in a police car on his way to interrogation almost a year ago.
The former chief of the security service of Ingushetia’s Interior Ministry, Ibragim Yevloyev [no relation to the victim], has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Magomed Yevloyev's family says the shooting was an assassination.
