TEXT SIZE - +
Two journalists have been severely beaten and robbed by two unknown attackers in Bishkek, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

Ulugbek Babakulov, the editor in chief of weekly newspaper "Moskovskiy Komsomolets-Kyrgyzstan," was hospitalized with a concussion, while his colleague Yelena Ageeva is recovering at home.

The press secretary of the Kyrgyz Interior Affairs Ministry, Bakyt Seyitov, confirmed the information to RFE/RL, adding that the attackers took away the victims' wallets and mobile phones.

The attack is the third reported this month in which Kyrgyz journalists were targeted.

Journalist and political analyst Syrgak Abdyldaev was hospitalized after being assaulted in Bishkek on March 3. And Bahadyr Kenzhebaev, a television cameraman, was severely beaten on his way home from work in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh on March 7.
