KABUL (Reuters) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has arrived in Afghanistan and plans to meet President Hamid Karzai and former rival Abdullah Abdullah, whose decision to pull out of a runoff has cast doubt over the legitimacy of the next government.

Ban scheduled the trip after five foreign UN staff were killed in a suicide attack on a guest house used by the United Nations.

He will meet his special representative and other UN staff, the United Nations said in a statement.
