Deadly Suicide Car Bombing In Samarra

April 11, 2005

11 April 2005 -- At least three people were reported killed and more than 20 others injured in a suicide car bombing in Samarra, north of Baghdad today.

Hospital officials said there were women and children among the wounded. Residents of the city were urged from mosque loudspeakers to donate blood.

The attack reportedly targeted a U.S. military convoy.

U.S. military officials had no immediate information on the explosion.

Earlier today, at least two car bombs exploded at the entrance to a U.S. military camp some 400 kilometers west of Baghdad.

Three U.S. Marines and three civilians were reported injured in that attack.

Also today, U.S. and Iraqi soldiers rounded up 65 suspected insurgents in a large raid in a central Baghdad neighborhood.
