Vote Count: First Round Of Iranian Presidential Election

June 18, 2005

18 June 2005 (RFE/RL) -- According to the Interior Ministry's preliminary figures as cited by IRNA, a total of 26.9 million people voted. With 46.8 eligible voters in Iran, that would put turnout at approximately 57 percent. (A report from the Fars News Agency put the vote count at 28.8 million, but it showed the same order of finishers.)
