Charges Filed In Case Of Warsaw Attack On Russians

12 August 2005 (RFE/RL) - Polish police say they have arrested and charged two men in connection with last month's mugging in Warsaw of three teenage children of Russian diplomats.
Warsaw police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski told the AFP news agency the two men have been charged with possessing stolen goods after objects belonging to the victims of the attack were found on them.
The 31 July incident in Poland was followed by the attack of two embassy employees and a Polish journalist in the Russian capital.
The Moscow prosecutor's office said today it had launched criminal proceedings into the beating of the journalist.
Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski has called on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to ensure the safety of Poles in Russia.
He described the recent beatings in Moscow as "organized events."
