Russian Customs Workers Seize Big Heroin Shipment

17 October 2005 -- Russia's customs service today said it has seized a big shipment of heroin being smuggled from Kazakhstan.

The customs service released a statement saying 362 kilograms were found in a car entering Russia from Kazakhstan. Marijuana and opium were also seized.

Russian officials say they are seeing a rise in Afghan-produced heroin being smuggled into Russia via Kazakhstan.
