EU Enlargement Chief Says Time To Start Talks With Bosnia

Oct. 19 (NCA) -- European Union Enlargement Commissioner Olli
Rehn today recommended opening talks with Bosnia-Herzegovina on a new
cooperation agreement, a step to full EU membership.
Rehn expressed satisfaction with Bosnia's adoption of a police reform
bill but warned Bosnia to fully implement the bill.
Rehn made his comments after a meeting with Bosnian Prime Minister
Adnan Terzic at EU headquarters in Brussels.
Rehn gave no date for opening talks with Bosnia since his
recommendation still needed the support of the EU head office and the
25 member governments.
The upper house of Bosnia's parliament adopted the bill yesterday. It
creates a multiethnic police force to replace the currently separated
forces that exist in Republika Srpska and Muslim-Croat federation.
