Iraq Car Bomb Kills At Least 23
3 November 2005 -- A car bomb outside a mosque in central Iraq has killed at least 23 people and wounded 46 others.
The bomb in Musayyib targeted Shi'ite Muslims in what appeared to be a sectarian attack.
Earlier on 2 November, several roadside bombs and shootings left at least a dozen people dead, mostly in Baghdad.
In the western town of Al-Ramadi, four U.S. service members died in a car-bomb attack and the crash of a military helicopter.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Army is asking officers who served under the old regime to rejoin. Under the new drive, officers up to the rank of major are being asked to apply.
The force was disbanded after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, but the army now finds itself without enough qualified, experienced officers.
