Prime Minister Feliks Kulov made the announcement at a meeting with local officials in the city of Osh: "The president [Kurmanbek Bakiev] asked me to express on his behalf, on behalf of the government, great gratitude to Anvar Artykovich [Artykov] and to thank him for his great job done during the short time [he was acting governor] in the making of the [Osh] region."
