28 December 2005 -- The U.S. military says one U.S. soldier and an Afghan soldier were killed today in the northeastern Afghan province of Kunar.

Two U.S. soldiers were also wounded in a blast caused by an explosive device.

More than 50 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan this year.

The Pentagon earlier this month announced it was planning to reduce the number of U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan.
