Malian Stabbed To Death In St. Petersburg

5 February 2006 -- A Malian has been stabbed to death in the Russian city of St. Petersburg today.


A local police official, Sergei Averchenko, said the West African died en route to hospital from wounds to the stomach and back.


Racist attacks have been on the rise in Russia, including in St. Petersburg, where two African students were killed in late 2005. A Peruvian student was killed in the city of Voronezh in October.
