Gunmen Abduct Sunni Imam In Iraq

10 February 2006 -- Gunmen wearing Iraqi army uniforms have kidnapped a Sunni mosque leader from his Baghdad home.

The Interior Ministry said Adel Khalil Dawud, the imam of the Al-Nuami mosque, was seized on 9 February.


A number of Sunni clerics have been killed in Iraq in recent weeks. All are believed to be victims of spreading sectarian violence.
