Pakistani Forces Raid Rebels In Tribal Region

1 March 2006 -- Pakistani helicopter gunships and ground forces attacked a militant camp in North Waziristan early today killing or wounding at least 25.

A local official told the Reuters news agency that the attack took place at Saidgai, about 15 kilometers north of Miranshah, the main town in the region that borders Afghanistan.   

An official told the AP news agency the militants had entered Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region after a raid inside Afghanistan. Army troops and three helicopter gunships attacked them.
