March 6, 2006 -- A wave of attacks across Iraq claimed more lives today.
The bloodiest attack came in the town of Ba'qubah, northeast of Baghdad, where a car bomb killed six people and injured more than 20.
Ba'quba, a mixed Sunni-Shi'ite city, has been at the forefront of a surge of sectarian violence sparked by the February 22 bombing of a revered Shi'ite shrine in the central city of Samarra.
In Mahmudiya, south of Baghdad, two car bombs killed three people and injured five. One of the cars was driven by a suicide bomber.
At least five separate car bombs struck different areas of Baghdad today, killing at least three people and wounding more than 20.
The wave of attacks came as President Jalal Talabani announced he would convene Iraq's new parliament on March 12.
