March 14, 2006 -- The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says the biggest-ever cache of weapons found in Afghanistan has been handed over to authorities.

ISAF said in a statement three bunkers of weapons were surrendered in the northern city of Sheberghan.

The statement said initial findings suggest some 80 tons of dynamite, 15,000 antipersonnel mines, and 10,000 antitank mines were recovered.

Correspondents say Afghanistan is awash with illegal weapons after 25 years of war.
